Study Abroad
Baylor in Italy Provence 2025!
DATES
- May 27-June 14, 2024
About the Program
This year's Baylor in Italy program will instead be traveling to the south of France! We will offer a selection of courses from the departments of Classics and English, and the trip will satisfy many of the Core requirements from your degree plan. The trip will be led by Dr Dan Hanchey, Undergraduate Program Director of Classics, and Dr Ginger Hanchey, Director of the Core in the college of Arts & Sciences and Director of Literature and Creative Writing in the English department.
Course offerings will include ENG 2310: American Literary Cultures (a common core course for all students), CLA 2306: Greek and Roman Mythology (from the Literature in Context Distribution List of the Core), and CLA 3321: Roman Topography (an upper-level elective open to all students and focused on the ancient sites of Provence). You will also be able to complete up to 10 Creative Arts Events credits through the program. And the program will count as your Engaged Learning credit.
We will be based in the charming Aix-en-Provence. From there we will take several day trips to sites like Arles, Avignon, and the Pont du Gard. The trip will also include a drawing class (the region was home to Van Gogh and Cezanne) and a French cooking class in cooperation with the American College of the Mediterranean.
There’s a place for all kinds of students in France this summer. We hope you will join us!
