Study Abroad
Baylor in Italy 2026!
DATES
- June 22-July 10, 2026
About the Program
This year's Baylor in Italy program will be based in Florence! We will offer a selection of courses from the departments of Classics and English, and the trip will satisfy many of the Core requirements from your degree plan. The trip will be led by Dr Dan Hanchey, Undergraduate Program Director of Classics, and Dr Ginger Hanchey, Director of the Core in the college of Arts & Sciences and Director of Literature and Creative Writing in the English department.
Course offerings will include ENG 2310: American Literary Cultures (a common core course for all students), CLA 2306: Greek and Roman Mythology (from the Literature in Context Distribution List of the Core), ENG 4340, a special topics course open to all students connected to image and poetry and art, and CLA 3321: Roman Topography (an upper-level elective open to all students and focused on the ancient sites of Rome and Italy). And the program will count as your Engaged Learning credit. Classes will be held on the campus of ACM-IAU in Florence, centrally located just steps from the Duomo.
From Florence we will take several day trips to sites like Siena and Cinque Terre, with a three-day, two-night trip to Rome.
There’s a place for all kinds of students in Italy this summer. We hope you will join us!
