Thanks to the generous gifts of many individuals and families the Department of Classics at Baylor is pleased to be able to support students with Classics majors or concentrations in a variety of ways. Downer Memorial Scholarship in Classics
E.L. Fisher Endowed Scholarship Fund
Established to honor longtime Baylor Classics faculty member and department chair Elmer Fisher by his daughter and son-in-law, this fund supports Classics students at all levels.
Hanchey Family Scholarship
The Hanchey Family Endowed Scholarship Fund was established in 1999 by Fred and Cathie Hanchey of Cypress, Texas. Through this scholarship fund, the Hanchey family wishes to provide students the opportunity to obtain academic education in a Christian atmosphere on the basis of merit and need.
Anonymous Scholarship
Created in honor of the family of a long-tome department member, this scholarship supports students in Classics and study abroad opportunities in Classics and Archaeology.
Jones Family Endowment in Classics
The Jones Family Scholarship supports Classics students engaged in all manner of study and research in the field of Classics.
Tommye Lou Davis Endowed Scholarship
The Tommye Lou Davis Endowed Scholarship Fund was established in 2011 by Tommye Lou Davis of Waco, Texas. Tommye Lou Davis earned B.A. and M.S.Ed. degrees from Baylor University in 1966 and 1968, respectively. Ms. Davis has been a member of the Baylor University faculty since 1966. She was appointed as an assistant professor with tenure in 1972 and was designated a Master Teach and associate professor in 1993. She has been a member of the Baylor University Faculty Senate and served on the board of directors for the Baylor Alumni Association. She was appointed as the vice president for constituent engagement by Ken Starr in 2010. She is a longtime member of the Baylor Round Table and the Baylor Bear Foundation. Tommye Lou and her husband, Donald B. Davis, are active members of the First Baptist Church of Waco. They have four children: Christi Whittenburg Roberts, John David Whittenburg, Warren Davis, and Martha Davis.
