Research Interests

Dr. Heckenlively’s research focuses on the poetics of Greek epic, especially the Hesiodic corpus, together with topics in religion and comparative mythology, and Latin reception of Greek epic. In addition, he maintains an active personal interest in Late Antiquity, Patristics, and Byzantine studies.

Work in Progress

At the moment, his work focuses on Vergilian reception of Hesiodic materials (broadly construed). In his "copious" free time, he also continues to work on an intermediate commentary to St. Athanasius' Life of Anthony.
